Description:	This assignment makes use of the Galeries de portraits of La Bibliotheque Nationale de France's web module on Le Portrait. After reading the comprehensive background on the art of portraiture in painting, photography and literature, the student will invent a story for one of the portraits in the Galeries de portraits.
Time Required	One to two hours for the first draft.

Prerequisites Skills:	First semester French writing proficiency
Learning Objectives:	The student will use a web site to learn about portraiture. The student will learn more about the art of description in French using the portrait as stimulus.
Text of Learning Exercise:	Avant d'écrire 1. Regardez les photos dans les Galéries de portraits. 2. Choisissez un des portraits et imaginez l'histoire de la personne. Ecrivons! 3. Utilisez ces questions pour organiser votre portrait écrit. Qui est cette personne? Où habite-t-il? elle? Que fait-il/elle dans la vie? Quoi: Que savez-vous à propos de sa vie? Donnez des détails. Quand: Parlez du passé, du présent et du futur de cette personne. Comment: Comment avez-vous découvert ces faits? Après 4. Partagez votre premier brouillon avec votre prof de français.
